Sources and measurement notes

Sizometry compares published specifications and calculates differences. These are not hands-on measurements or tests of comfort, performance or pocket fit.

Folded and unfolded dimensions differ; cases and camera protrusions may change the space a device needs. Drawings share a relative scale and are not calibrated to life size on your screen.

Sizometry Analysis

Overall Score

8.0

out of 10

Pad 20's 12.1-inch 3K LCD with the parts that matter for speed and sound: 165 Hz, Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, six-speaker DTS:X Ultra, Wi-Fi 7, and Magic-Pencil 4s support at 537 g. Charging watts are unpublished; the keyboard and pencil are extra. Choose Pad 20 if you do not need the Pro chip and speakers.

Category scores

Camera

6.0

13 MP rear and 8 MP front are better document cameras than Pad 20's 8 MP rear, still not photography hardware.

Battery and charging

8.0

10,100 mAh with HONOR Lab video and reading hours; charging watts are not in the cataloged Pro spec.

Performance

8.0

Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 plus 165 Hz and PC Mode is suitable for demanding tablet gaming and heavy study multitasking.

Handling and portability

6.0

Same 12.1-inch footprint as Pad 20 at 537 g — two-handed, noticeable on a forearm, bag rather than handheld-first.

Build quality

7.5

Metal 6.29 mm body with a six-speaker system; LCD and no IP rating keep it short of OLED flagship tablets.

Value

8.0

Clear Pro premium over Pad 20 in chip, refresh, audio, and Wi-Fi without a catalog launch price.

Strengths

  • 165 Hz 3K LCD with Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and PC Mode
  • Six-speaker DTS:X Ultra media package Pad 20 does not match
  • Magic-Pencil 4s dual-nib notes and optional all-in-one keyboard
  • Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and a 13 MP rear camera versus Pad 20

Weaknesses

  • IPS LCD contrast versus HONOR OLED MagicPads
  • Charging speed not published in the cataloged spec
  • Pencil and keyboard sold separately
  • 12 g heavier than Pad 20 at the same size

Best for

  • Study and PC Mode work that needs 8s Gen 4 and 165 Hz
  • Media on a stand with six-speaker DTS:X Ultra
  • Stylus buyers who will pay for Magic-Pencil 4s
  • Pad 10 owners who want Wi-Fi 7 and a faster chip

Less suitable for

  • Buyers who only stream and browse — Pad 20 is enough
  • OLED contrast shoppers who should look at MagicPad 4
  • Anyone who needs a published charging wattage before buying
  • Handheld-first compact tablets

Upgrade recommendation

  • Current device: HONOR Pad 10 or older 12.1-inch HONOR LCD

    Recommendation: Strongly recommended

Notes: 165 Hz, 8s Gen 4, six speakers, and Wi-Fi 7 are a real generation step if you use the tablet for more than video.

  • Current device: HONOR Pad 20

    Recommendation: Depends on priorities

Notes: Pay Pro only for silicon, 165 Hz, audio, and Wi-Fi 7. Same canvas and battery class; Pad 20 is lighter and lists 45W charging.

  • Current device: HONOR MagicPad 4 shoppers

    Recommendation: Depends on priorities

Notes: MagicPad 4 is the OLED and 8 Gen 5 HONOR tablet; Pad 20 Pro is the 12.1-inch LCD value-Pro.

  • Current device: Need a compact gaming tablet

    Recommendation: Probably unnecessary

Notes: Lenovo Legion Tab 8.8 is the handheld 165 Hz gaming slab; this is a 12.1-inch study-and-media Pro.

Everyday usability

Estimated from device dimensions and weight.

  • Handling

    Two-handed preferred

Two-handed use is generally the more natural way to hold this device.

  • Bag portability

    Limited

Not intended for pocket carry; plan on a bag, sleeve, or hand carry.

  • Carry comfort

    Balanced

Weight sits in a balanced range for everyday holding and carrying.

  • Reading and media

Roomy for documents, media, and side-by-side layouts.

  • Gaming

    Suitable

Its hardware should handle most modern games, though demanding titles may benefit from adjusted settings.

Bottom line

Pad 20 Pro is the 12.1-inch HONOR to buy when 165 Hz, Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, and six-speaker DTS:X Ultra are worth 12 extra grams. Pad 20 keeps the same 3K LCD for less silicon and listed 45W charging. Magic-Pencil and keyboard are extras; charging watts are unpublished. Skip OLED hopes — this is still IPS.
